Linea is a contemporary music ensemble that offers a fresh approach to musical transmission based on the sharing of experiences, curiosity, and the blending of diverse aesthetics.
CIEL is a time for collaboration and shared creation, open to composers and sound artists.

Participants will have the opportunity to compose a new work, which may take the form of a written piece, a semi-open score, a sound work, a performative or multimedia creation. The pieces will be premiered during the closing events of the Academy, which are part of the official programming of the Cordes-sur-Ciel Festival. Composers will receive guidance and support throughout the creative process from composer Michelle Agnès Magalhaes, as well as from the musicians of Ensemble Linea.

In addition to workshops and rehearsals, participants will present and discuss their artistic backgrounds, enriching the content of this intensive week-long program.

Compositions may be for solo instrument, duo, amplified acoustic, mixed media, acousmatic, multimedia, music theater, performance, etc.

STRUCTURE

A strong emphasis is placed on research. Each instrument will be presented in detail in advance via video conferencing and then in person. Performers will be available for experimentation with composers as soon as the participants are selected.
Each composer will write a new piece, to be premiered at the opening concert of the Cordes Festival and recorded. The compositional process will be closely followed on-site by the teaching team, who will also provide one-on-one lessons in advance. Professors and participants will also give presentations of their own artistic work.

 Program includes:
• Individual lessons
• Group sessions
• Pre-Academy composer-musician working sessions
• Artistic presentations by the professor and each participant
• Workshop-style rehearsals
• Public concerts featuring the final works, with audio recording
