Martin Hiendl a.k.a. Laure Leander is a composer and performer based in Berlin and New York. Their work is situated between concert music, performance, music theater, installation and other interdisciplinary realms, employing instruments mainly in interaction with electronic means. Extended duration and installative temporality are important dimensions in their work, working against a presumed synchronicity between spectacle and spectator, and exploring the performativity of the space-time-body relationship in music as a live act—as a shared space in time between bodies for an event that is inherently theatrical.

Important collaboratos have been choreographer Julian Weber, writer Göksu Kunak/Gucci Chunk, video artist Monica Duncan, stage designer Claudia Doderer and composer/performers like Sam Yulsman and Lester St. Louis. Their works have been performed by ensembles and performers from the Zafraan Ensemble (Berlin), Kammerensemble Neue Musik (Berlin), International Contemporary Ensemble (New York), JACK Quartet (New York), and others. The opera installation PARADISE was premiered at musikprotokoll / steirischer herbst 2016. In 2017 they co-founded the Y-E-S collective with Neo Hülcker, Stellan Veloce, Kaj Duncan David and Andreas Dzialocha.

They studied composition with Beat Furrer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt/Main (2005–09, 2012) as well as with Roger Reynolds at the University of California San Diego (2009–11). Since 2015 they is pursuing a doctorate at Columbia University in New York with George E. Lewis.
