Nima Farahani was born in Teheran in 1992. He studied at Teheran Conservatory of Music, where he got lessons in Violin and Music Theory. After moving to Germany in 2011 Nima got lessons in Music Theory, Instrumentation and Composition from Manolis Vlitakis and lessons in Counterpoint and Music Theory from Behrang Noipour. Since 2016, Nima is studying Composition at the University of Arts Berlin (UdK) for his bachelor’s degree with Prof. Elena Mendoza while he currently attended the Erasmus program to study with Beat Furrer at University of Art in Graz. 

Nima has won scholarships from Ad Infinitum Foundation, Otto-Benecke-Foundation and DAAD as well as Agnes und Kurt-Schubert-Foundation. His music has been recognized at „crescendo festival Berlin“ (Germany), „ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week“ in Città di Castello (Italy), „Akademie für zeitgenössische Musik“ in Lucerne (Switzerland), KLANGZEITORT concert series „Zoom&Focus“. His work „Moralfloskel“ for big ensemble (15 instruments) and electronics was commissioned by Landesmusikrat Berlin e.V. and was premiered in April 2019 in Konzerthaus Berlin.
Nima was selected as a participant of the masterclass „Sound of Wander“ with Marco Momi and mdi-Ensemble in Milano in November 2019 and took part at masterclass „Rome NewMusic Week“ with mdi-Ensemble and Beat Furrer in May 2019. He also took part and wrote his piece „Wandeln in Illusion“ for Soprano and Saxophone for the International ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week in Italy in July 2019 in Cittá di Castello. This work was also be played at the Academy for contemporary Art in Luzern in February 2020 where he was chosen to take part at the masterclasses with Franck Bedrossian, Stefan Prins and Dieter Ammann.
He is chosen to participate at composition masterclasses 2020 with Ivan Fedele and Claudio Ambrosini, which is organized by Divertimento Ensemble. Nima will also take part as an active participant at 2nd Roma new music week with mdi ensemble and Mauro Lanza.

Nima will continue his studies with Prof. Beat Furrer at University of Art in Graz.
