Kara Koskinen started her musical studies, with playing piano, violin and viola, in North-Kymi Music Institute in Kouvola, Finland. There started also conducting studies with violist and conductor Valerijs Avramenko in 2004.
Kara has studied conducting in academic Jorma Panula´s “Youth conducting” -class in Helsinki during years 2006-2011. She has participated in Masterclasses of Kari Tikka, Elias Seppälä, Jorma Panula, Atso Almila, Ari Rasilainen, Peter Starck and Vladimir Fedoseyev, and conducted Helsinki Philharmonic, City orchestras of Kuopio, Vaasa, Seinäjoki, Hämeenlinna, Oulu, Joensuu, Lappeenranta, Tampere and Mikkeli as well as Pori Sinfonietta and Orchestra of St. Petersburg Conservatory.
Autumn 2011 Kara started Bachelor-and Master Studies in Sibelius Academy with professor Leif Segerstam and continued with professor Atso Almila and Hannu Lintu. Guest teachers concise of Sakari Oramo, Mikko Franck, Susanna Mälkki, Tuomas Hannikainen, Eva Ollikainen, Herbert Blomstedt, Johannes Gustafsson, Dmitri Slobodeniouk and Leonid Korchmar.
Autumn 2013 Kara worked as an assistant conductor in performances of Donizetti`s Don Pasquale with Pori Opera. During spring 2014 she graduated as Bachelor of Music, with best regards.
From Autumn 2015 to Spring 2016 Kara spend as an exchange student in St. Petersburg Conservatory, studying conducting under professor Alexander Alexeyev.
Spring 2015 and January 2019 Kara held her own conducting Master Classes in Hämeenlinna, Finland, where she appears regularly and since 2015 works as the Associate Conductor of Hämeenlinna City Orchestra.
Kara taught conducting to a group of Sibelius Academy students during Autumn 2016. Since 2014 she has worked as an assistant teacher of Valerijs Avramenko in the Conducting Class of North-Kymi Music Institute.
Kara studied Piano performance with Jyri Plink and Olga Strazdina, in Kouvola and continued her studies in Sibelius Academy with Carlos Juris during 2004-2017. Summer 2017 she completed her Bachelor studies in Piano.
Kara worked as a conductor in “Listen, I compose” productions during 2014-2015 and in 2016, conducting performances of “Time out” -opera. This production was the Opera Conducting Diploma of her Master Studies, which she completed with highest marks.
Spring 2017 Kara completed her Conducting Diploma and graduated as Master of Music with excellent marks. Autumn 2017 she continued her conducting studies in St. Petersburg Conservatory and Autumn 2018 started her post-graduate studies, continuing with professor A. Alexeyev, and graduated Summer 2020 with highest marks.
Autumn 2019 Kara participated in the International Ilya Musin Conducting Competition in Kostroma, Russia, being one of the semi-finalists.
Autumn 2020 Kara founded Entrada ensemble in Kouvola, Finland, where she acts as conductor and artistic director.
