Dr. Theo Vinden biography

Theo Vinden is much in demand across the world as a conductor, cellist and educator. He has just completed his studies in operatic and orchestral conducting at TTU. He was formerly conducting Fellow of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and interim director of orchestra at the University of Texas Permian Basin. Prior to coming to the U.S., he was director of the chamber choir at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Hungary. This followed his studies in Hungary, Russia and the U.K.. During his time in the U.S., he has assisted great conductors such as Maestros Imre Palló and Benjamin Zander; additionally, he has conducted on stage with Jill Grove (a mezzo-soprano of the Metropolitan Opera).

Whilst in Hungary, he conducted in important ceremonies commemorating Kodály's birth and death year in 2017-18. In the U.K., he was director of the Hillingdon Chamber Orchestra and the Northwood Choral Society, achieving rapid growth in standard and audience during his tenure. As cellist, he has appeared as soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra and done freelance work with many professional orchestras in the U.K. and U.S.. He has coached on the West Texas Kodály Initiative, the TTU Matador Opera Workshop, the National Youth String Orchestra (U.K.) and Pro Corda, amongst many other music programmes across the world.
