Pedro do Carmo (Apr. 2001) began studying the cello at the age of 5 in Lisbon, Portugal.
He studied at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), being a student of Paulo Gaio Lima and Levon Mouradian. Pedro finished his bachelor’s degree at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium, studying modern cello with Jeroen den Herder and baroque with Viola de Hoog. 

Pedro is interested in contemporary music, playing with the experimental hub LABMMx José Luís Ferreira, oriented by Jaime Reis and Carlos Caires. He is also a member of the Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble Academy, guided by the composer Miguel Azguime and conducted by Pedro Neves.

He is the cellist of ConcrèteLab Ensemble, a contemporary music ensemble based in Lisbon Portugal.


Throughout his academic career, he had the opportunity to work with renowned cellists and pedagogues in several masterclasses, such as Xavier Gagnepain, Johannes Moser, Maria de Macedo, Daniel Grosgurin, Gideon den Herder, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Job ter Haar, Claudio Bohórsquez, Márcio Carneiro, Filipe Quaresma, Varoujan Bartikian, Marco Pereira, Irene Lima, Jed Barahal, Lluis Claret, Leonid Gorokhov, Ophélie Gaillard, Marc Coppey or Kyril Zlotnikov.

Currently Pedro is a master’s degree student at Codarts Rotterdam, in the cello class of Jeroen den Herder.
