Aldo Chiarulli, born on 21/02/1999 and raised under the influence of many musical experiences, is a percussionist working in Italy.
After graduating from high school, he began an academic course in instruments and percussion at the Bari Conservatory ‘N. Piccinni’ Conservatory in Bari, under the guidance of Professor Filippo Lattanzi.
Fascinated by the composers of the late 20 th century, he began to take an interest in composers such as Xenakis, Hurel and De Pablo. He went on to complete his academic career
with 110 votes and distinctions.
He is currently studying for a master's degree in interpretation at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, under the guidance of Maestro Antonio Caggiano, with whom he is deepening his knowledge of contemporary Italian composers.
Since September 2024, he has been teaching percussion at the G.D. Cassini state high school.
In recent months, he has been working with M°Filippo Lattanzi and M° Mike Rosen, on an important performance interpretation research on Rebonds by Iannis Xenakis.
For almost five years, he has been a percussionist with the I.C.O. Symphony Orchestra of the city of Bari, conducted by world-renowned conductors such as Gerardo Estrada Martinez, Piotr Sulkowski, Bojan Videnoff, Delta David Gier, Pasquale Corrado and many others.
With over 60 productions with the orchestra, he has been able to experiment with a wide range of compositional styles.
In collaboration with the I.C.O. symphony orchestra of the city of Bari, he also recorded an album, published by the ‘Digressioni Records’ label.
As an orchestral musician, he has taken part in numerous creations by major composers such as Nicola Scardicchio, Christian Ugenti, Lorenzo Ferrero, Giorgio Battistelli, Massimo Gianfreda and many others.
In 2020, he won first prize as a soloist at the Lams international competition.
That same year, he was also a member of the Bari Percussion Ensemble conducted by Maestro Luigi Morleo, taking part in numerous concerts and contributing to two recordings.
In 2021, he performed Igor C. Silva's audiovisual work ‘Your Trash’ for the first time in Italy. In 2022, under the direction of maestro Filippo Lattanzi, he took part in the very first performance of ‘Stanze’, composed by maestro Biagio Putignano for six percussionists, a reciting voice and a dancer, in homage to Pier Paolo Pasolini.
After winning first prize in the percussion category of the 5th Flavio Vespasiano International Competition for Contemporary Performance, he performed at the Goethe Institute in Rome during the Reate Festival.
With drummer Silvio Annese, they composed ‘Timbric Etude on Construction(s)’, taking part in festivals and artistic events organised by the Puglia Centre for Art and Technology.
In collaboration with Annese, he also performed the premiere of Maestro Biagio Putignano's ‘Viaggi scritti e Viaggi non scritti’ in 2023, in collaboration with the Pino Pascali Foundation, on the occasion of Calvino's centenary.
