Elena Barrios Campo - Conductor
“Elena communicates easily and enthusiastically with her musicians. The result of this is that the players in the orchestra want to give their best for her.” R. Gulikers.
Elena Barrios is a young conductor and flute player. Born in 1999 and coming from the southern city of Sevilla, she carries her roots with her and expresses them through music. She is currently based in Maastricht, where she continues her career as a conductor in Conservatorium Maastricht.
Her passion for orchestral music comes from her early years, when she started playing flute. Due to her eagerness to improve herself and because of her ability to express her
musical imagination with just the movements of her arms and hands, she started to grow quickly as a conductor.
She works assiduously with youth orchestras: Málaga Youth Orchestra and Maastricht Kamerorkest. In addition to her official studies under maestro Arjan Tien, she attended masterclasses from renowned conductors such as Jorma Panula, Antony Hermus or Sander Teepen, among others.
She finished her first Bachelor in 2021, in the Classical flute department. During this time, she developed as a flute player taking part in different orchestras: Nederland Studenten Orkest as a main flute player, where she debuted in Royal Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Amare (The Hague) and Muziekgebouw (Eindhoven). Also in Jong Metropole Orkest or NJO Pop Orkest playing in different venues around the country.
Her orchestral experience from these two different perspectives, emerges into a deep understanding and communication of the music, turning her performances into a rich sensory experience for the audience.
