Slovenian composer and saxophonist Maj Brinovec (born 2003) is one of the more versatile musicians of his generation. After graduating from the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana, he continued his studies at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, where he is currently pursuing composition under Professor Vito Žuraj and saxophone under Professor Dejan Prešiček. He also participated in an exchange programme at the University of Split, studying with saxophonist and composer Gordan Tudor.
As an active saxophonist, Brinovec regularly performs in chamber ensembles, orchestras, and as a soloist. He has won numerous top prizes at national and international performance competitions and frequently attends masterclasses with world-renowned saxophone professors.
As a composer, Brinovec has had his works performed at public concerts across Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Croatia. His piece Odradek Variations for string quartet was presented at the 2025 International Rostrum of Composers held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. His compositional voice continues to evolve through performances, collaborations, and active engagement with contemporary music practices.
