Zilu Chen is a Chinese composer and sound designer whose work explores the intersection of technology and artistic expression. She holds a Master of Music (MM) in Music Composition: Screen Scoring from New York University.
Her professional background includes a role as an Audio Programmer at NetEase Games, where she honed her technical skills in a commercial game development environment. In 2022, she founded Shiro Sound Lab, a company dedicated to innovating at the crossroads of technology and art.
Currently based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Zilu is the composer, sound engineer, and co-producer for the feature-length documentary "Dulong as Metaphor." Directed by Dai Lu, the project focuses on the Dulong ethnic minority living along the China-Myanmar border. While she has years of experience composing for film, theatre, and dance, as well as producing music festivals and concerts, this documentary marks her inaugural venture into feature-length film production.
