Pasquale Citera is a composer and sound designer whose work focuses on the integration of sound, space, and image through digital technologies, spatial audio, and experimental composition.
He studied Piano, then Experimental Composition and Electronic Music at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome under the guidance of Giovanni Piazza and Giorgio Nottoli, developing a solid foundation in timbral research and sonic experimentation.
He also pursued studies in Oriental Languages and Civilizations at the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” deepening his interest in non-Western musical aesthetics and intercultural perspectives.
Since 2007, he has been active as a composer and sound designer for leading theater companies, film and television productions, contemporary art installations, and multimedia projects. His creative output is characterized by the use of generative processes, real-time interaction, and audiovisual composition techniques.
In 2016, he was appointed Cultore della Materia in Electronic Music at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. Since 2017, he has focused exclusively on composition and academic teaching.
He is currently Professor of Audiovisual Composition at the “G.B. Martini” Conservatory in Bologna. His work regularly involves collaborations with visual artists, performers, and cultural institutions in the development of transdisciplinary and generative media projects. His areas of expertise include computer music, sound spatialization, interactive systems, and new media art.
