Pneumaplume

Pneumaplume is a work for piano and electronics. It is taken from my EP "Wave Files" - four pieces based on the natural elements. It is both an homage to the element of air and a kind of companion piece to Ravel's Oiseaux Tristes. Where Oiseaux Tristes is melancholic, Pneumaplume is optimistic. Here birds are represented both literally and figuratively: the first half elaborates on a phrase built of processed birdcall recordings, while the more “flighty” second half integrates Ravel’s blackbird motif into the chirpy electronic layer.
