The lab will be divided into five sessions in which we will begin with an approach to the general standardized aspects of the double bass with emphasis on the practicality of the application of resources for a satisfactory execution. Subsequently, the subject of extended techniques will be analyzed in detail, exposing the conventional terms, the conventional writing, the sonority corresponding to each technique and sharing some examples of scores of related works. Finally, the previously exposed information will be complemented with a series of bibliographical recommendations and a general list of outstanding exponents of the different styles in which the double bass has been present.
Participants will be encouraged to have a broad vision in the craft of composition, considering aspects such as individual personal musicality, stylistic ideologies, pragmatism in the composer-performer relationship and of course the organic functionality of the double bass.
